The Metrofiler, a subsidiary of Metrofile Ghana Limited was founded by a group of administrators, accountants and IT experts who thought that in Ghana the creation of off-site/in-house and outsourced records archiving and storage facility was bound to be an enhancement to efforts of businesses and other organizations.
The Metrofiler believes that a lot of value will be brought to companies and institutions in Ghana if they archive and manage their records and documents effectively and efficiently. Apart from meeting regulatory and statutory requirements, companies that resort to The Metrofiler’s services, will automatically conform to best practice which as a consequence should create a competitive edge for them.
Technology and associated complexity in the world of business has meant that most businesses in today’s world now have to specialize in a narrow range of activities. This has made it compelling to buy a greater proportion of one’s requirements from those who have the specialist expertise, patents or design rights, sometimes associated with complex or advanced technology. Indeed this is where The Metrofiler stands out in offering such a specialized service.
The concept of document management and archiving that The Metrofiler is selling in Ghana and the west coast of Africa is not new...The idea was borrowed from South Africa and North America where it is in active operation and creating a lot of value. This is because apart from National Archives, that has limited scope in this area, and a few entities that have in-house methods of storing records and documents there is no known undertaking that is in this line of business.

The main competitive advantage lies in our ability to provide bespoke services to clients by IT solutions to improve records/documents storage retrieval and general management of paper, while digitizing records for electronic storage. This advantage is also hinged on our unique barcode technology application used in capturing data and which has powerful search engine capabilities regarding both text and picture formats- the first and the only such application in Ghana. One other advantage is that data captured by our application allows for data exchange with applications like Oracle, MSSQL and other database applications.
